The Afiya Trust stands out from other organisations in the health and social care sectors by bringing the end user's perspective to the policy development and the implementation process through our national 'networks'.
A significant driver for Afiya's approach is to secure organisational change. In the wake of the Macpherson Report and the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 and now the Equality Act 2010 and radical changes to the NHS and adult services, the need for partnership building and working with the BME voluntary sector is essential.
Through our networks, there is service development through effective consultation, national conferences and seminars, research, media relations campaigns and online debates. This approach enables Afiya to bring together a broad based collective voice to respond proactively to policy developments and social trends.
