One of Scope’s ambitions as a charity is to be completely inclusive. This means that they work hard to make sure that disabled people from all backgrounds have the same opportunities as everyone else.
That’s why Scope have worked with The Equalities National Council to talk to disabled people from ethnic minority backgrounds to find out what their experiences of services were, and how these could be improved.
The joint report Over-looked Communities, Over-due Change has some clear findings that should help better understand this growing group of people.
Scope hope that by reporting what ethnic minority disabled people have shared will offer ideas and solutions for improving their life opportunities.

The Department of Health (DoH) is asking people to comment on what should be covered by the cross-government long term conditions strategy.
They are currently drafting the strategy and plan to publish it towards the end of this year. The strategy will be a high level vision, describing how they want to see improvements in the lives of people with long term conditions. It will apply to England only.
DoH would like to hear from people with long term conditions, carers, health professionals, commissioners, local authorities and the voluntary sector. People’s experiences, both positive and negative, and their ideas about what could be done differently, are vital to make the strategy as relevant as possible.
The content of the strategy will not be confined to health issues. It will also cover other aspects of people’s lives that can be affected by long term conditions and bring together departments across central government to sign up to shared aims.
